Using content for your affiliate marketing
Mike Paetzold back once again for day 4 of my stay here while on The Old Bald Guy’s Blog Tour . I am traveling from blog to blog across the internet stopping for a week at a time. Hope you are enjoying my series here on affiliate marketing. Glad to see some comments yesterday and I hope it continues as you may just win a prize.
First a quick review of what has been covered so far.
- Day 1 – Affiliate Marketing – The tools of the trade
- Day 2 – Creating or setting affiliate landmines
- Day 3 – Using blogs for your affiliate marketing
Content whether it be articles, blog posts, podcasts, videos or e-books can be an excellent way to sell affiliate products. These type of traffic generation can be free but they do take effort.
Lets’ look at how you can use each type. All but the blog posts and e-books work best with domain redirects or redirects off of your domain if it is easy to remember.
Articles
You are probably most familiar with article marketing. Create good content, submit it to the various article directories and use your signature file as the hook to draw visitors to a sales letter or even better a pre-sell page or the best a squeeze page of your own.
Blog Posts
This topic was covered in detail yesterday.
Podcasts
Here you can deliver your content in audio format and reach all of those that use various mobile devices such as the ipod and iphone users. Here it is important to have your call to action be easily remembered, A domain redirect is the absolute best way to do this (as we discussed on day 2 of this series.)
It is much more likely someone would remember and be able to reach something like http://TheCBPirate.com versus http://cbpirate.com/main/mpaet3 even though both go to the same place.
Videos
You can easily create video content as simply as just talking to a power point presentation or by doing screen capture videos using Camtasia. When you submit you want to start your description with the url where you went to send traffic in the format http://domain.com so that it will be clickable.
E-books (PDF)
These along with audios and videos can make a great ethical bribe or as a good friend would say “bait” for your list building efforts. You can also add them and get them indexed by uploading them to scribd and other sharing sites. Of course you embed them with your affiliate links.
Now all of this sounds like an awful lot of work and I won’t lie to you it can be but there are ways to re-use your content in multiple ways.
That is what we will discuss tomorrow so come back and discover how you can do something once and re-use in many different ways. Want an easy way to use one article for all of the above check out The Sunday Night Cash Plan .

I have been picking up some great tips during the last few days. Today I’m intrigues with the comment: add them and get them indexed by uploading them to scribd and other sharing sites.
Now I have never heard about scripd . I’m also not aware of sharing sites to upload material to. Maybe worthwhile to share soem more information in an additional post!
Your tip about the pod cast is critical. Pod casts can reach a lot of people who wouldn’t find you online, but you have to communicate a web page very clearly or they will never find you.
Real good information being put out here. I hope everyone like me is learning some great stuff. The parts about podcasting and videos are where I seem to have my problems. Will be back to learn about re-using things many different ways.
Great ideas Mike! Without good marketing, by getting your message out there, there will be no sales. The ideas you share are what can help bring in a lot of sales, you just have to take action and do it!
Mike,
Some good stuff here…any type of content on your blog is good as long as you are consistent with it and it’s relevant.
Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next posts.
