Are There Any Profitable Blog Niches Left?
Finding your blogging niche should be one of the aspects of blogging which the blogger carefully considers before starting a blog. This is especially important if the blogging is being done for the purpose of financial compensation. Ideally a blog owner should select a blog subject about which they are passionate and knowledgeable. However, bloggers should also carefully consider the direct competition as well as the purpose of the blog before starting their blog.
What we’ll be learning in this article is the process in which you’ll use to find a profitable niche. There are a lot of niches out there. The problem is, most are not profitable or very difficult to monetize. Our goal here is to find the ones that are under utilized and have an income potential better than average.
Singling Out Your Interest That May Be Profitable
One of the first considerations for a new blogger is his personal interests. This is important because a blogger who is passionate and knowledgeable about a particular subject will not only have an easy time coming up with ideas for new blog posts but will also likely be highly successful. This success will likely be attributable to the fact that blog visitors can sense his passion for the subject matter and greatly appreciate the knowledgeable posts which are informative and accurate.
As I said before, nearly any subject is fair game for a niche blogger. The subject of the blog isn’t nearly as important as whether or not you have knowledge about the niche and whether or not you can provide informative and interesting blog post. Once you can do that, everything else starts falling into place. Bloggers who only want to make money with a blog may have to search their interest for a subject that is capable of bringing in a higher traffic count, but even small interest can be profitable by multiplying the number of blogs you have.
Sizing Up Your Competition
Now that you have your interest written down, go to the search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN and search for other blogs on your interest. Take note of the quantity of blogs on your subject and their quality. This will tell you whether or not your subject is already saturated with bloggers. Chances are its not, but you must first do this little part of research in order to determine the amount of competition and whether they are dominating your niche subject or not.
Considering the Purpose of the Blog
Blogs can be created for any number of purposes. Politicians use them to get their message out. Activist use them to recruit and energize members. Some of us use them to make our income from them. There are any number of reasons for starting a blog. Why is this important? Because if you’re starting a blog to make money, you need to make sure there is enough interest in your subject to drive traffic to your blog. Traffic will be what makes you money. Without traffic, there will be no money coming in from your blog!
In these cases the blogger should choose a subject which appeals to a large audience. Additionally, the Internet should not already be saturated with blogs on this subject because it will likely be difficult for the new blog to garner a share of blog traffic. Finally, blog owners should consider the quality of the blog they are capable of creating on a particular subject. The blogger should choose a subject where he is confident he can not only make regular posts but also ensure these posts are original, informative and interesting.
