Affiliate Marketing – The tools of the trade
You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?
Mike Paetzold here as part of the Old Bald Guy’s Blog Tour. Thanks to Herschel for allowing me to stop by hear this week. I am traveling the blogosphere stopping for a week at various blogs through the end of the year.
I probably am best known for my WordPress prowess but I do a lot of list building and affiliate marketing in a variety of niches. This week I will be discussing affiliate marketing and hope to give you some actionable tips to move your business along.
Today we will discuss the tools you need to be an effective affiliate marketer. These are the must have tools you need in your tool box.
They are…
-
Your own domain
-
Web hosting
-
Autoresponder
-
Tracking
I know you have probably seen the products that tell you that you will not need anything and you can do it all free. Try that and you have a very slim chance of succeeding. It is not impossible but having these tools will make it much, much easier.
Your own domain
This allows you to be more professional. Not having your own domain and web hosting is like trying to run a store out of the trunk of your car instaed of having a store front that people can walk in to see your wares. At less than $10 a year a domain makes you real.
Web hosting
This allows you to host your own pages which is necessary to take advantage of some of the best ways to leverage your efforts. The cost is minimal and the leverage you get makes it easy to show a great return on the investment. You can get an excellent account at Host Gator for less than $10 a month.
Autoresponder
List building is the key to effectively being a good affiliate marketer. Most people will not buy the first time they see a product and if you are not building a list and having a way to contact people your income suffers. A quality autoresponder makes all the difference because you can then build the relationship. I use and recommend Aweber.
Tracking
You need to know what is working and what is not. There are a nyumber of services free and paid to allow you to do this. I wrote a book on this called Tracking Your Way To Profits that you can grab for free.
Those are the tools you need to get started and tomorrow we will discuss “Creating or setting affiliate landmines”. Leave your comments below as I like to reward commenters during the blog tour and you just may get a gift.

Some very interesting tips Mike and all very valuable items to have to get your website started. I have seen some of those things where people tell you that you do not need a website. I agree with you that it can work a whole lot better with a website. Will be following. Thanks.
